Communications
Division
Our frequency can be found at
155.100MHz.
Volunteers for the department carry tone
and voice receivers. These receivers are Motorola Monitor
ll. Emergencies are toned out through our dispatch service
located in the Manitou Springs Police Department. Types of
calls and address are received and monitored while en route
from our homes.
Officers with the department carry the Motorola
HT 1000 portable radio. This is a vital link between the dispatcher
and voluteers while going to a scene. Updates and or assessments
of an emergency can give the arriving volunteer a better idea
of what to expect before arrival. All of our rescue and fire
apparatus are outfitted with the Motorola HT 1000.
Through the years and with the advancement
of technology there have been many changes within fire department
organizations. From bells and whistles to claxtons and sirens;
the Manitou Springs Fire Department continues to strive to
keep up with the changes. We will soon be participating in
the El Paso County 800MHz program. This service will allow
us to have direct communications with other agencies during
mutual aid calls, no longer receiving information from a number
of dispatching centers.
We look forward to the future and are excited
to add a new dimension to our department such as this to continue
our fine service to our community.
